The DaVinci Portable Vaporizer, manufactured by Karma Classic, is new to the vaporizer market, being released in late March 2012.  It has a compact rectangular design and comes in several colors, including black, red, white and silver.  It looks something like a walkie-talkie, with the flexible straw mouthpiece sticking up like an antenna.  The unit is about 4 inches high, 2.3 inches wide and 1 inch deep (about the size of an average Smartphone) and weights less than 6 ounces.  It slips conveniently and discretely into a pocket or purse, and its sturdy construction and quiet operation makes it a stealthy, easily portable unit.

The inert copper heating element inside the DaVinci Portable Vaporizer gives it superior heating performance.  It can reach maximum temperatures in under two minutes and the rapid heat transfer results in higher quality vapor.  The three rechargeable lithium ion batteries offer 13.5 volts which equates to an hour of continuous use before a charge is needed.  The unit will take a full charge in about two hours and can be used while charging, which is always a plus.

The ThermoVape uses a convection heating system.  It contains a patent-pending heating core that utilizes an untainted heating coil to produce the purest vapor possible for this type of unit. With its convection heating technology, the Atmos RAW vaporizer can be used anywhere, regardless of environmental conditions, a concern often expressed with regard other types of portable units that utilize butane or other methods of heating.  The Atmos RAW is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery that is designed to last for 72 hours of continuous use.  Under normal conditions, the battery can last up to 10 days without needing to be recharged.  Further, when the battery does run down, it only takes about two hours to reach a full charge.  As an additional convenience, the Atmos RAW not only comes with an AC adapter for wall charging, but also a USB adapter so that the unit can be charged at any available computer station.

Due to the convection technology, the heating process, although quick, can seem a little cumbersome to those not familiar with the process.  Basically, a button is depressed to activate the heating element, and the customer draws on the mouthpiece while holding the button.   Then the button is released and after about 3 seconds the process is repeated until the quality of vapor is achieved.  The whole process generally takes less than 30 seconds.  There are no separate heat settings, which some vaporizer reviews consider a drawback, but the internal temperature (ranging from about 375 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit) is regulated by the frequency and length of a customer’s draws as well as the placement of the herbal product within the chamber.  The unit does have an automatic shut-off which activates after about nine seconds of continuous heat.  Therefore, the vaporizer may need to be periodically reactivated when in use.

The unit, which is basic black with red trim, is about 10 inches long, 1.5 inches around and resembles a small flashlight. Although larger than other similar portable units, the VaporBLUNT is easy to handle and doesn’t feel cumbersome to use. This is due, in part, to its unique one-button design.

On the face of the unit, only one button is prominent, and it controls the entire operation of the vaporizer. The interior of the vaporizer houses a very efficient ceramic heating core and the unit is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The VaporBLUNT has two pre-set temperature settings, namely 390 degrees Fahrenheit and 410 degrees Fahrenheit. To operate the unit, the customer must depress the button once to reach the first temperature setting. The button will blink green until the temperature is reached and then it will stay a solid green. To reach the second temperature setting, the customer simply presses the button again. The button will blink yellow this time and display a solid yellow color once the temperature is reached. Those who are familiar with the sleek and stylish design of the Volcano, however, might be surprised when they get a look at the Plenty. Most vaporizer reviews classify it as similar in appearance to a “power tool,” such as a hand held drill. Even the colors of the unit, black and orange, suggest a weekend of home repairs rather than a session of vapor inhalation.

The Plenty Vaporizer does, in fact, have a body shape similar to a power drill, with a triangular handle and orange power switches. Underneath the bulky exterior, however, beats the heart of efficiency; the double helix heat exchange built into the core is designed for superior heating efficiency and high-yield vapor. In fact, most vaporizer reviews find the vapor quality produced through the Plenty to be of exceptional quality.

But the unit, unfortunately, is not without its downfalls, and it appears that certain kinks still need to be worked out.
